Christmas Clearance Part 1 of a ton

Happy New Year, long time no see. I've been tied up for awhile, my grandmother is very ill and not expected to live long and I'd like to spend all available time I have with her. I did manage to get quite a bit of after Christmas shopping done though. It's amazing what you can accomplish on 15-30 minute breaks when you are determined. In the photo above I snagged the sheet sets for $7.00 a piece, killer deal!!!!  I've needed my own bundt cake pan for awhile and Paula Deen had one out for Christmas that on clearance I snagged for  $5.00, lots of cake to come!!!!

The glass jars were a great deal at $1 a piece and boy do I have plans for them.

I also managed to make a quick run to Target and got $2.00 canisters of doggie treats, the dogs are gonna love me for those, $2.50 snack packs of pretzels, and $5.00 packages of nuts.

This is just the beginning!!!!

I'm frantically trying to find a place for it all.

$200 worth of Groceries at Wal-Mart for $21.32

So I pulled out my manufacturer coupons I have been receiving in the mail the last few weeks along with a bunch of store coupons I had been collecting and pulled out my ads and voila..... this is the result.

I also got the toilet paper and 6 bags of Farm Rich appetizers in the freezer not pictured.

Totally worth it.

I have had alot of luck lately hitting manufacturer websites vs just the coupons I receive in the paper. The coupons are a higher dollar amount and it means  more free stuff.

I also found out Wal-Mart matches the mexican grocery stores. Yippee!!!!!

Now who on earth says couponing doesn't pay off?

Happy Price-Matching,

P.S. I cheated on the challenge but I got right back on . I'm still finishing my 30 day no eat out challenge.

Day 2 of the Challenge

Do I hear a super duper woo-hoo? I made it through another day of not eating out. I have lots of shopping to do this week and got my new computer so lots of picture posts coming soon.

For breakfast I ate leftover sopapillas w/ lots of honey.

I sipped on ice-water all day.

For lunch I made scrambled eggs w/ cheese and wrapped it in a tortilla.

For dinner I went to mom's and helped my brother make pork chops and loaded baked potatoes after I price matched everything down at Wal-Mart.

Now I am sipping on my Coke and telling you how my day was.  How cool is that!!!!!

By the way at Wal-Mart in the deli section they have hang tags on the bottles of coke for $1.00 off when you buy two bottles of coke and $4 worth of meat, deli, or frozen foods.

Buy two bottles of Coke and price match them to $1.15 from Dollar General and buy a package of meat and voila .65 cent two liters when you buy meat. Lots of price matching on meat this week.

Happy Couponing,

Eating Out

First of all I rounded out Saturday evening by taking my mom out for dinner and I must say I am so proud of her.  She is finally thinking like a true couponer.  Let's just say we had many errands to run together today and she definitely started to wear out so I left her in the car at a few stops, with the air-conditioner running, while I popped inside for a few end of the week freebies.

Walgreens was my first stop and I ran in to get the free Washable Crayola Markers, free women's vitamins, and free box of crayons. I wanted a raincheck for the .19 cent pkg.'s of pencils but my cashier refused to call the manager to write one and I didn't feel like arguing so on my way I went.

Half a dozen stops later I end up at Wally World and picked up some .50 cent end of Summer clearance glasses and came across the most adorable pink colored George Foreman Grill for $15.00. I had to have it! It's pink and only $15.00. The last one I bought 5 + years ago has since disappeared and was over $20 at Kohl's so I decided what the heck.

Finally, I made it to Office Depot. Well all I can say is I was a bad little ad reader this week because I missed the reams of paper for $1, limit 2 per person, good for last Sunday only. Shame on me! I never have enough paper. It wasn't all bad. While I was there I calmed down the nicest older lady who was horribly upset they had nothing left. I told her not to worry there are many more sales to come. She seemed happy! What can I say I have a calming effect on people! :) I made it out the door with 3 pkg.'s of pens and 3 protractors for a grand total of .......98 cents. Even the cashier was surprised.

Well after a few more stops and a couple trips home my mom started whining saying I'm hungry! Isn't this backwards? Shouldn't that be me whining I'm hungry? Well, I offered to take mom to lunch but she just wasn't in the mood but dinner was another story. Seems that while I was running in and out of the store mom found my stash of Zio's Italian Kitchen Coupons that came in the Sunday paper two weeks ago and decided to give it a try. Now we love Zio's and frequent it often but I am trying to give up eating out so you know it had to be a good deal for me to give it a try. Get this, the family feast feeds 4 people at 19.99. The insert also gives directions for texting for a free appetizer. Let's break this down 4 meals and one appetizer for 19.99 SOLD!!! I was too tired to call anybody else to come with us so mom and I headed in and headed out full. Even the manager was impressed. The food would feed about 6 people. So 6 meals, 4 salads, and one appetizer for 19.99 + tax. I'm a happy camper. Did you hear the bells a ringing? Oh wait it's not Christmas time! For those of you who have a Zio's around I highly recommend stopping in. Oh I forgot to mention our traditional game of tic tac toe. Make sure you check your inserts from last Sunday's paper. If you don't have the code to text, e-mail me or flip the flier over to the front side and voila another free appetizer coupon.

Overall not a bad day for procrastinating from finishing up my redecorating project. Painting in 103 degree heat just isn't much fun. I will make sure to post my latest redecorating project pictures this next week. Of course it will finally be done. In the meantime, have lots of fun shopping and pick up several copies of tomorrow's paper.

Happy Dining Out,

The Cute Couponer

P.S. I have tried the online discount rest. coupons for my area and there is never anything good. That's why I gave in and went tonight. We needed a treat because I am about to start my 30 days of no eating out challenge. Not quite ready for that to begin though.

Surprise Clearance at Wally World

Well my mom and I were on our 3rd trip to Home Depot ( I will tell you more about it later this week) and decided to pop on over to Wal-Mart to pick up a few things. Sales seem rather grim for the week but I'm still waiting on three more stores ads to come out tomorrow so I decided to just get the bare necessities. My goal was simple to run in and out but then I saw this pile of people around these two shelves so you know I had to go see what was going on. Well in a matter of minutes the two shelves were more or less emptied but I was fortunate to be able to grab my fair share.

I bought 5 bottles of Ajax dish liquid for 50 cents a piece.

I also happened to score 20 packages of my favorite Hollandaise Sauce Mix for .50 a package and to make it even better the Bernaise sauce was discounted down to .50 too! Usually these are a $1.69 I have never seen them on sale and they are simply marvelous!

Well Jimmy Dean Gravy Mix that usually sells for $1.50 happened to be marked down to .50 and then something fabulous happened when I got to the register and they rang up .25 a piece. Lucky Me!

I bought 7 boxes Idaho Instant Mashed Potatoes marked down to .50 a piece, usually $2.00.

The yummy Cranberry Stove Top Stuffing was on sale for .50 a box and I bought two boxes. I would  never dream of making store bought dressing for the holidays but I might be in the mood for it a few times in Fall.

Last but not least the much coveted Terra Sweet Potato Chips. Now let me tell you how hard it is to get your hands on these things. First you have to drive to the other side of town to the health food store to pay $5.00 a bag for them and that's when they have them. When they are out you go to another far away grocery store almost the same distance away to pay almost $5.00 a bag for them too. The one time we found them at Wally World they were over $4.00 a bag  and they were stale. We forgot to check the date. EXPIRED!!!  Finally  today of all days with no coupons in hand my mom comes rolling up with 9 bags in her cart with the biggest grin on her face and says they are $2.58 a bag should I get them. I put a huge grin on my face knowing I have taught her well to stock up when things are on sale and said YES!!!  Don't worry I checked the dates for her.

You know sometimes when you least expect it there are deals right around the corner. Keep your eyes open wide and swing by Wally World today!

Squeaky Clean

Today I had to make a quick run to Walgreens to pick up a prescription for my mom. I hadn't planned on visiting Walgreens until tomorrow evening when I finished my deal scenarios but what's a girl to do. While I was there  I made great use of my time and picked up 4 bottles of free shampoo. I love this Organix line. It smells yummy it's affordable and my hair loves it. My hair so doesn't tolerate cheap shampoo!!! You don't wanna see it when I use the cheap stuff on it. I rolled the Organix shampoo by doing two transactions. The shampoo is on sale buy one get one free this week so for every two I bought I got a receipt and took the hangtag off (which there are plenty of) and am mailing it in for the rebate. Voila....FREE shampoo. Don't you love free. Especially organic stuff. While I was on my way out the door I cut through the clearance section and bought 4 sets of 2 bamboo cooking utensils on sale for .50. Since oven mitts don't seem to last long around here the 2 packs of clearance for .84 also caught my eye. I bought 5 sets and got to the register and they rang up at .75 cents a piece. I hope they look adorable hanging in my kitchen!!!

Once I got home with all my  new goodies I remembered one important thing on my list of exciting things to do today and that was to return a ton of produce to Wally World ( for those of you who aren't familiar with that term it means Wal-Mart it's like a theme park in there.) Since I have been shelling out mega bucks this Summer on fresh produce I certainly expect it to last longer than 2 days. Really Wal-Mart we weren't born yesterday we want quality produce not this make shift stuff that is expired by the time you open the fridge the next morning!!! I figure if I pay for and it doesn't last then I will keep taking it back. At first I thought it was a little extreme until I got in line and saw what other people were returning. EWWW WEEE!  That's a story for another day.

Well I would love to sit and chat but I have many outstanding decorating and cleaning projects ahead. I think I forgot to mention I made a fortune in college decorating peoples houses. I never chose it for a career because I wanted it to stay fun not stressful. Many friends and neighbors have given me the privilege of helping them turn their cookie cutter houses into designer looking homes. I will definitely make an effort to write more about it. I was thinking it would be neat to show you how I purchase alot of decorative items by rolling my RR's and ECB's. We'll talk more about that later. In the meantime, doesn't a banana smoothie sound yummy for lunch? How about a super juicy pork roast for dinner? I have lots to do.

Toodaloo,

The Cute Couponer

P.S. I figured out where my battery charger for my camera is. It' s at my Grandma's! Silly me.  I am going over this weekend to get it. Good pictures will return soon. Thanks for your patience.

Let's Talk Carrot Juice

If all goes well I am hoping to escape to the Chinese Market today to stock up on some essentials like brown rice, mullet, and quinoa. I will tell you more about these things later. Tom. I will return to my big shopping day. I like Wednesday because it is the only day in Oklahoma City all the sales are current and overlapping at all my favorite stores.

Today I wanna talk about Carrot Juice. Carrot juice is something that has been and is becoming again a big part of my life. This may sound crazy but on average my family uses 2 lbs of carrots a day. Know we aren't addicted to carrots we just juice them. See carrot juice is great for everyone. It's cancer fighting helps with Rheumatoid Arthritis and weight - loss. Frankly I can't believe I am admitting this but, oh well,  it is just darn good. Now you can buy carrot juice or make carrot juice. A juicer is necessary if you are making  it.

This is what it looks like after you make it. The cute little cutouts are courtesy of someone else. Who knew you could do that with a carrot. Next time I get really bored I might try it.

The other way to get it is to buy it.

In my experience, Bolthouse Farms has the best if you are going to buy it. At almost $4.00 a bottle (ouch) I choose to make my own.

I buy organic carrots at Wal-Mart for .88 cents a lb. The other option if you live in Oklahoma City is to buy them for 21. 00 at the Health Food Center southside. The bag is a 20 lb  bag but they have a different flavor to them my family isn't oh so keen on.

Anyway, I am off to clean house, plant grass seed, decorate outside for Easter oh and I'm starting walking the dogs today. Wish me luck.

3.5 lbs lost so far so let's hope I keep losing.

Hope You Try Some Carrot Juice,

 The Cute Couponer
